Discipline. Dedication. Pride.
Boxing runs deep in the Balderas family. Karlos’ father and uncle boxed after immigrating from Oaxaca. As a kid, Karlos was taken to a boxing gym as punishment for street fights. Or so the story goes. It didn’t take long for his raw talent to shine. The family dedicated themselves to his career, and today, his dad, Zenon, and uncle, David, remain his coaches.
That dedication paid off. Karlos represented the U.S. in the Olympics and became a Central Coast icon. With 14 wins in 15 fights (12 by knockout), he’s come a long way from the streets of Santa Maria.
Relentless. Motivated. These words define Karlos. With his father by his side, offering guidance from the corner, everything is connecting for him both literally and metaphorically.
Karlos fights for more than fame. He carries the pride of Santa Maria, inspiring young kids across the Central Coast and beyond to chase their dreams through hard work.
